Abstract
Experiments have been carried out to investigate the adsorption of Rhodamine-B on tosuspended material when the dye is used in the turbid waters of some English east coastestuaries. This adsorption appears to be most serious when large dilution has taken place. The experimental results lead to an equation between observed dye concentration and that to be expected under otherwise similar conditions but without loss of dye fromsolution by adsorption. The equation takes the form R = (rn + KP)n where R = Rhodamine concentration to be expected if there were no adsorption, r = measured Rhodamine concentration, P = suspended load in parts per million, and K and n are constants.
