For the latest Social History of Medicine Virtual Issue, marking the 50th Anniversary of the Society, the Co-Editors invited previous Chairs of the society to select articles and book reviews from the SHM Archive. These articles reflect some of the early aims and professional intersections of the society, but also chart the dramatic changes in historical practice between the 1980s and now.

The Roy Porter Essay Prize
The 2022 Roy Porter Student Essay Prize was awarded to Anna Weerasinghe (Johns Hopkins University) for her entry: '‘In the Kitchen with Brianda Jaoa: Tacit Practices and Technologies of Healing in Garcia de Orta’s Coloquios (1563)’.
