Objective: The relationship of demographic variables to performance on the Multilingual Aphasia Exam (MAE) Visual Naming Test, Benton Visual Retention Test (BVRT), and WAIS-III were examined. Method: One hundred eighteen participants with mixed neuropsychiatric diagnoses who completed the MAE, BVRT, and WAIS-III were included; there were no exclusion criteria. Results: An initial factor analysis was performed using variables of the Visual Naming Test items that were derived in previous studies with age and educational level. Education loaded on VisNam.Fac1 (Items 1-21) (Component 1). Age loaded on VisNam.Fac2 (Items 21-29) (Component 2).

Factor Components 1 and 2 were refactored with four components of the WAIS-III based on subtest raw scores. Component 1 (VisNam.Fac1_Edu) loaded on VCI, Component 2 (VisNam.Fac2_age) loaded on POI, and PSI and WMI were unrelated to either components. A final factor analysis using the new factorial components derived from the previous analysis and the EarlyBVRT and LateBVRT factorial...
