Plastic surgeons Sydney Coleman and Riccardo Mazzola are both recognized pioneers in the development of fat injection techniques, and their expertise is evident throughout the recently released Fat Injection: From Filling to Regeneration, published by Quality Medical Publishing. These two editors—from New York City and Milan, Italy—have brought together 53 other contributing authors, all of whom are experts in the transplantation of fat. This book provides comprehensive coverage of subjects that range from the biology of fat grafting to the basic science of stem cells to the countless clinical applications of transferred fat in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
Research into fat transfer treatments has spread from a few centers to a global scale, as indicated by author contributions to this text from many European countries, northern Africa, and multiple locations throughout the United States. As fat grafting becomes more widely adopted for purposes we could not envision only a few years ago, this book should be useful to almost every plastic surgeon, as well as surgeons from other specialties, including otolaryngology and dermatology. Coleman and Mazzola’s book should also be required reading for every plastic surgery resident because the procedure has clinical utility in so many areas of the body. All surgeons should learn something from this book that will be applicable to their patients.
