This issue of Aesthetic Surgery Journal is very special. With this issue, and throughout 2002, we salute the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery's 35th anniversary. Also beginning with this issue, the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery becomes the first international society to appear on the ASJ masthead.

ASJ Welcomes Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery
It is with great pleasure that I announce to our worldwide readership that ASJ is now the official English-language journal of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery. The Brazilian Society is the largest plastic surgery society outside the United States, and its members have contributed many important innovations to the field of aesthetic surgery. As a result of the new relationship between our journal and the Brazilian Society, ASJ will have the opportunity to review and publish selected original manuscripts submitted to us through the Brazilian Editorial Foundation. Claudio Cardoso de Castro, MD, as the new international editor of the Brazilian Society, will serve as the liaison to ASJ. We look forward to this exciting new collaboration with our international colleagues in Brazil.
Congratulations to ASAPS on Its 35th Anniversary
In 1967, ASAPS' founders, Simon Fredricks, MD, and John Lewis, MD, developed their plan for a professional society that would be wholly dedicated to the advancement of cosmetic plastic surgery. There were 28 founding members, among them the recognized pioneers of cosmetic surgery in the United States.
Now, 35 years later, ASAPS' influence in the world of cosmetic surgery is unparalleled. There are nearly 1900 active members of the Aesthetic Society in the United States and Canada and corresponding members in many other countries around the globe. ASAPS sponsors what are recognized throughout the world as the premier continuing education programs in cosmetic surgery. Not the least of ASAPS' accomplishments is its peer-reviewed journal, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, which is more widely read than any other clinical journal of cosmetic surgery. As a salute to ASAPS throughout this anniversary year, ASJ will highlight published contributions by ASAPS founding members or past presidents with a special 35th anniversary logo.
Submit Your Work to ASJ
ASJ values you as a reader and a contributor. The journal is interested in receiving your original manuscripts, review articles, case reports, special topics, and letters to the editor. Throughout this year, ASJ will continue to feature a variety of outstanding artwork created by aesthetic surgeons. We welcome your submission of original art for our covers.
2002 will be a year of many new developments in aesthetic surgery. You can rely on ASJ to bring you the very latest new techniques, hot topics, and trends affecting your cosmetic practice.
