Reputation

Biometrika has over 120 years of experience in publishing papers in statistics and has a high impact within its field of research, making it a prestigious platform for authors to publish their work and contribute to its legacy.

Editorial Board

Biometrika has an experienced, geographically diverse editorial board. The Editors take great pride in providing an efficient and high-quality review process to Biometrika authors. Where articles are sent out for full review, authors receive careful reports and feedback.

Publishing processes

Biometrika is committed to fast first decisions, rapid online publications, and a quick and easy online submission system.  Biometrika uses a simple online submission process through ScholarOne Manuscripts. Papers, in PDF format, are submitted electronically. A LaTeX template and style guide are available online.

Nearly 75% of papers submitted receive a first decision within one month and almost all papers receive a first decision within five months.

Advance access publishing means content will be available online as soon as possible. Once a paper is accepted and the final files received, the pre-proofed, pre-copyedited accepted manuscript will be published online usually within one week. It will be replaced by a copyedited, proofed version of the paper in an issue.

Article metrics

Article-level metrics, including usage, citations, and Altmetric scores are available for all articles published in the journal, allowing authors to understand the reach of their research, and the attention it is receiving online.

Open access options

Biometrika offers authors the opportunity to publish their work open access – find out more about open access options.

Read and Publish

OUP has a growing number of Read and Publish agreements with institutions and consortia which provide funding for open access publishing. This means authors from participating institutions can publish open access, and the institution may pay the charge. Find out if your institution is participating.
