Cover Competition

The British Journal of Aesthetics (BJA) holds a competition each year open to students on full-time undergraduate or graduate courses at art and design schools or in fine art/design departments in any country to design a cover for the journal. The winning entry showcases the distinctive style of the artist, while remaining consistent with the series of covers as a whole.

In 2015 we received over sixty entries. The winning design graces the October issue of the journal. It was submitted by Catarina de Aguiar Ferreira Gomes, an emerging designer who is currently studying for an MA in Contemporary Typographical and Editorial Practices at the University of Lisbon. Congratulations to Catarina!

We were very fortunate that Britain’s leading graphic designer John Morgan agreed to serve on the panel of judges. We are also very grateful to Oxford University Press for sponsoring the competition. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the artists who submitted their designs for this competition.
