When you are offered a drink or drugs, keep the following in mind:
Say “NO” quickly. Do not hesitate.
Your voice should be clear and firm.
Make direct eye contact.
Suggest an alternative:
Something else to do.
Something else to eat or drink.
Ask the person to stop offering you a drink and to not do so again.
Change the subject.
Avoid the use of vague answers or excuses (e.g., “Not right now” or “I’m driving tonight”).
Do not feel guilty about refusing to use. It’s a great thing, so feel good about it.
