Abstract
This chapter discusses the word-lists published by Thomas Harman, Thomas Dekker, and S. R. All three claim to be listing the language of wandering beggars. Harman's work has a rural setting, but Dekker and S. R. move the focus to London. Unlike Dekker, S. R. does make some additions to the list. The publication of several editions of Dekker's works demonstrates his contemporaries' continuing fascination with the underworld. However, apart from these later editions of Dekker's list, Martin Mark-all was to be the last publication in this field for forty-five years.
