AUTHORS' SYNOPSIS

In these studies escape of the intestinal vasculature from the constrictor effect of norepinephrine was examined during systemic intravenous infusion of this catecholamine. Under these conditions about 60% of the escape response appeared to be due to local pressure independent adjustments, 20% due to local pressure dependent adjustments, and 20% due to systemic neurogenic adjustments.
