Synthetic linear somatostatin at a concentration of 100 ng/ml has been shown to markedly inhibit glucagon release from the isolated perfused rat pancreas with perfusate glucose concentration at 80 mg/100 ml. In addition, stimulation of glucagon release by epinephrine (50 ng/ml) was blocked by somatostatin (100 ng/ml). (Endocrinology95: 1744,1974)
