An improved method for measuring the interseptal spacing in hyphae of Streptomyces tendae by fluorescence microscopy coupled with image processing

Summary

Improved stain for visualization of septa in streptomycetes is presented. The technique preserves the true morphology of hyphae and enables its arrangement to be interpreted correctly. Using a digital image processing system, accurate and reproducible analysis of positional information on septa and branches was obtained.
