Abstract
The technology of food production and processing (including the ceramic repertoire of the community’s Taíno households) is the focus of Chapter 11. The distinctive technologies for processing, preparation, and eating of root crops (principally manioc), shellfish and fish are detailed, and the social relations of food production and preparation are considered in a framework of social inequality and gendered labor.
