This section brings you forward fifteen years to hear from a cofounder and three current Academe staff who were associated with the organization around the time of the 2004–2005 study. They offer a deeply informed appraisal of how the organization you have just learned about matured as its roots deepened. Unlike the protocols for the initial study, this one asked the study participants to share their recollections and current view of Academe’s strengths and shortcomings, its outcomes related to the goals of critical pedagogy, and its future trajectory and that of the youth it serves. As you read this narrative, keep in mind that, whereas the 2004–2005 study participants were diverse constituents responding to general questions, the ones in the 2020–2021 study were long-time insiders responding to specific questions related to critical pedagogy. Another difference is that advances in technology allowed for a more accurate transcription of the interviews than was possible earlier. That said, let me introduce the 2020–2021 study participants.
