We apologize for errors in the magnitude of reagent concentrations in the Materials and Methods section covering flow sorting and DNA precipitation. The following contains the correct concentrations of reagents for addition to fractions of flow sorted nuclei.

EDTA (25 mℳ), sodium lauroyl sarcosine (1%) and proteinase K (200 µg/ml) were added, and the nuclei were incubated overnight at 42°C. After addition of PSMF to a final concentration of 40 µg/ml and incubation at room temperature for 40 min, DNA was precipitated by the addition of 0.04 vol of 5 ℳ NaCl and 2 vol 100% ethanol and resuspended in 10 mℳ Tris pH 7.4, 0.1 mℳ EDTA buffer at a concentration of ∼500 mg/ml.
