Abstract
Cefoxitin sodium was used to treat 70 women having mild or moderate uncomplicated endometritis. The drug was administered for 5 to 14 days by either slow or fast i.v. injection or by the i.m. route. Of 99 bacterial strains isolated, 93 were sensitive to cefoxitin. By the end of treatment, 94 strains (94.9%) in 64 patients (91.4%) had been eradicated. All 70 women were cured in an average of 5.9 days, without relapses, and with good systemic and local tolerance to cefoxitin.
