Time for Renewables to Join the Market: the New Guidelines on State Aid for Environmental Protection and Energy

Abstract

The New Guidelines on State aid for environmental protection and energy impose tighter scrutiny upon the way Member States may fund projects to develop renewable energy.

The emphasis is placed upon moving towards market-based incentives to develop renewables energy rather than automatically assuming market failure and the need for subsidies.
