About the Journal

Japanese Journal of Clinical Oncology is a multidisciplinary journal for clinical oncologists which publishes high quality articles on medical oncology, clinical trials, radiology, surgery, basic research, epidemiology, and palliative care. It contributes to international scientific knowledge but with particular emphasis on the Asian region.

Since 1971

JJCO publishes various articles types including:
・Original Articles
・Case Reports
・Clinical Trial Notes
・Cancer Genetics Reports
・Epidemiology Notes
・Technical Notes
・Short Communications
・Letters to the Editors
・Solicited Reviews

Freely accessible after 6 months of publication

The journal also welcomes interim articles on the design and plan of phase studies before actual results are obtained. While clinical trials usually require a long time to accomplish a conclusive outcome, the journal believes reports of interim outcomes will be highly appreciated by its audience. JJCO was established in 1971 as the first journal from Japan to publish clinical research on cancer in English. JJCO was initially financially supported by the Foundation for Promotion of Cancer Research to assist dissemination of Japanese research. The National Cancer Centre (NCC) played a central role in managing the journal. The successive Editors-in-Chief have all been presidents of the NCC. Oxford University Press (OUP) became the journal’s publisher since 1997. Since 2007, due to JJCO ’s success in establishing itself as an international journal, it became independent of sponsorship in 2007.

Sister-journal relationship with JNCI

JJCO is available online from Volume 1 Issue 1 up to the most recent issue. Articles become freely accessible 6 months after publication (Pre-1996 volumes are archival volumes and will require separate subscription). A print version of the journal is also available.
