Instructions to Authors

Since July 2011, papers are no longer submitted simultaneously to the Bulletin, Journal, and Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society. Authors should now choose one of these journals or alternatively the new open access journal Transactions of the London Mathematical Society, according to the submissions criteria below. All four journals share the same Editorial Advisory Board and the same standard of peer review. Each journal will consider submissions where the number of pages (in published form) lies within a range which is specific to that journal. The Journal welcomes submissions where the final published length is 15-28 pages.

For full details on how to submit a paper to the Journal, please go to the web page
www.lms.ac.uk/publications/jlms-submit.

Papers likely to be outside the page range of the Journal may instead be submitted to one of the sister journals as follows:

Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society: 18 pages or less

Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society: 22 pages or more

Transactions of the London Mathematical Society: a fully open access journal; no page length criteria.

The subject coverage of the LMS periodicals ranges across a broad spectrum of mathematics, covering the whole of pure mathematics together with some more applied areas of analysis, mathematical physics, theoretical computer science, probability and statistics. The current Editorial Board reflects predominantly pure interests, but the Society wishes to encourage a spread to more applicable areas and will consider papers submitted in areas of mathematics not covered by existing Board members.
