• Members of the American Association for Cancer Research have elected Frank McCormick, Ph.D., as their president-elect. McCormick is the director of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. He holds the E. Dixon Heise distinguished professorship in oncology and the David A. Wood distinguished professorship of tumor biology and cancer research at UCSF. He is also the associate dean of the UCSF School of Medicine.
• Nathanael S. Gray, Ph.D ., is the recipient of the 2011 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cancer Research from the American Association for Cancer Research. Established by an anonymous donor in 1979, the award goes each year to recognize a young investigator (not more than 40 years of age). Gray, an associate professor at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, is to deliver his award lecture entitled, Pharmacological Validation of Kinase Targets, at the AACR Annual Meeting, April 2–6, in Orlando, FL.
