Abstract

Increasing the iron stores in rots bearing the Walker carcinosarcoma 256 by iron injections had no significant effect upon the concentrations of hemoglobin, plasma iron, liver and kidney catalase, and cytochrome c in the heart, kidney, masseters, and triceps. The simultaneous use of cobalt and iron prevented anemia in the tumor-bearing rat. Cobalt, however, failed to increase the concentrations of plasma iron, liver and kidney catalase, and cytochrome c in the heart, triceps, and masseters.
