Abstract

The seromucoid of rats with intact pituitary glands was increased only slightly by the administration of large amounts of bovine pituitary growth hormone. In hypophysectomized rats the serum mucoproteins were significantly lower than in intact rats. Hypophysectomized rats responded to daily injections of growth hormone, in amounts as low as 0.025 mg., by an increase in the seromucoid levels. The increase in seromucoid was proportional to the dose of pituitary growth hormone.
