Summary

A procedure for hypophysectomy in the mouse by a parapharyngeal approach is described. The technique is simple and applicable to mice of any age; the mortality is low. No additional therapy was required for BALB/c mice, but the animals do better if given glucose in saline after the operation. The completeness of the operation was checked by observation of the weight loss and by gross inspection and histologic study of the pituitary area.
