Summary

Microspectrophotometric studies of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in Feulgen preparations of P388 D1 cells infected with polyoma virus were carried out during progression of viral growth and cytopathic effects. Twenty-four hours after infection, when there was no evidence of viral growth or cytopathic effects, no increase in nuclear DNA-Feulgen complex was found. Significant increases in nuclear volunie and nuclear DNA-Feulgen complex were observed, however, 48 and 72 hours after infection, when cytopathic effects were evident and viral growth had taken place.
