Diethylnitrosamine-Induced Alterations in the Tracheobronchial System of Syrian Golden Hamsters

Summary

Diethylnitrosamine-induced alterations in the tracheobronchial system of Syrian golden hamsters were studied with semithin techniques. Hyperplasia and dysplasia of the epithelium seemed to precede papillary tumor development. These morphological patterns were repeated in the tumor epithelium. No evidence was found for metaplastic change to squamous epithelium either in the altered tracheobronchial or tumor epithelium.
