Summary
Agar-gel precipitin and complement-fixation tests were used in a search for group-specific (gs) antibodies of avian leukosis virus (ALV) in 101 sera from leukemic patients. Although 7 human sera reacted immunologically with the virus-infected, chicken tissue-culture extracts that served as antigen, the antibodies proved to be against chicken antigens and not viral antigens. Thus there was no evidence of ALV gs antibodies in any human sera tested.
