Summary
Combined treatment of hamsters with a loweffect dose schedule of benzo[a]pyrene plus ferric oxide given intratracheally, followed by a low dose of diethylnitrosamine given systemically, resulted in a synergistic tumor response. Squamous cell carcinomas of the tracheobronchial tract were observed only in the group receiving combined treatment; administration of single carcinogens did not cause similar tumors.
