The graph below shows the five cancer sites with the largest increases and the five with the largest decreases in incidence among U.S. men from 1973 to 1993. Prostate cancer incidence rose sharply in the late 1980s and early 1990s but has fallen in recent years (see Stat Bite , Nov. 20, 1996). The rise in the melanoma incidence rate has slowed in recent years. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma incidence continues to rise among both young men, many with AIDS-relatcd lymphomas, and older men, for whom the increase is largely unexplained.
