The national Youth Risk Behaviour Survey reports that smoking prevalence among U.S. high school students, except black females, increased bertween 1991 and 1995. This trend represents a turnabout from an earlier decline (see Stat Bite , April 19, 1995). While black men are more likely to smoke than white men, black teens and black women have lower smoking rates than white teens and white women. Some studies suggest that today's teenagers are not as convinced of the dangers of smoking as teens were a few years ago.
