▪ A new chair and five new members have been named to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, which is sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
Bruce Nedrow (Ned) Calonge, M.D., a member of the Task Force for 2 years, is the newly appointed chair. He will take over from Alfred O. Berg, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle, who has been the chair since 1996. Berg will remain on the task force.
The five new members are Leon Gordis, M.D., Dr. P.H., professor in the departments of Epidemiology and Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore; Kimberly Gregory, M.D., director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and director of Women’s Health Services Research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles; Judith Ockene, Ph.D., professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School; Diana Petitti, M.D., director of research and evaluation at Kaiser Permanente of Southern California in Pasadena; and Barbara Yawn, M.D., director of research at Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, Minn.
