▪ Dan M. Iancu, M.D., Prasanna Kumar, M.D., and Johnny Yap, M.D. , have joined the faculty of Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y.

▪ Mark Goldberger, M.D., was named Medical Director for emerging and pandemic threat preparedness at the FDA. He has been with the FDA since 1989.

▪ Patricia Carrigan, Ph.D., of the Mayo Clinic in Arizona , Emily Chenette, Ph.D., of Duke University in Durham, N.C., and Jason Myers, Ph.D., of Stanford University in California, were awarded postdoctoral fellowships of $138,000 apiece from the Canary Foundation and American Cancer Society. The awards go to researchers focusing on early cancer detection.

▪ Lester Rosen, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.S.C.R.S. , was appointed president of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Rosen is a professor at Pennsylvania State University. W. Douglas Wong, M.D. , of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, N.Y., was appointed president-elect.
