Thyroid cancer, with around 40 000 new cases in 2022, has surpassed testicular cancer as the leading cancer diagnosis worldwide among males at young ages (15-34 years) (Figure A). Yet testicular cancer, with around 32 500 new cases, is still the most frequent cancer among males in this age group in 70 countries, largely in populations of European ancestry (Figure B). In contrast, thyroid cancer is the leading cancer among young males in only 4 countries, with China contributing almost three-quarters of incidence burden worldwide, an estimated 29 500 new cases annually.
