This is a correction to “Delta-Like Ligand 4–Notch Blockade and Tumor Radiation Response” by Stanley K. Liu, Saif A. S. Bham, Emmanouil Fokas, John Beech, Jaehong Im, Song Cho, Adrian L. Harris, Ruth J. Muschel, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Volume 103, Issue 23, 07 December 2011, Pages 1778–98, https://doi.org/10.1093/jnci/djr419.
The Editors were alerted in September 2024 that there may be splicing of the Western blots in Figure 1B. The journal published an expression of concern while investigating the matter (1).

The authors subsequently admitted to splicing out a dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) control lane that they felt was unnecessary to show, but the journal did not have a requirement to indicate splicing of blots at the time the paper was submitted. The authors presented the journal with the original data and have provided a corrected figure that shows both the PBS and DMSO control lanes. With the corrected figure (below), there are no changes in the interpretation of the data, which continue to support the findings that Notch inhibition by DBZ or DLL4 mAb increases DLL4 protein expression in LS147T cells.
The corrected figure legend is: “B) Immunoblot analysis of Notch signaling proteins. LS174T cells were incubated with dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), or dibenzazepine (DBZ; 2 or 20 nM) for 16 hours, lysed and immunoblotted for Notch1, Notch1 intracellular domain (N1ICD) (left panel). Equal loading was confirmed with immunoblotting for β-actin (left panel). LS174T cells were treated overnight with vehicles (PBS, DMSO), DBZ (20 nM), or DLL4 monoclonal antibody (mAb) (1 μg/mL), and cell lysates were immunoblotted for DLL4 and Jagged-1 (right panel).”
The Editors are satisfied with the author’s response and believe the corrected figure more transparently presents the data and continues to support the conclusions presented in the article.
These details have been corrected only in this correction notice to preserve the published version of record.
