Introduction

Vaginal dilators can help women who experience painful intercourse due to several reasons, including: vaginal/vulvar atrophy (VVA) a component of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), complications resulting from cancer treatment, and pelvic floor dysfunction/vaginismus. Dilators can be used to help build confidence with vaginal insertion and help eliminate the cycle of pain. Dilators are under-prescribed and poorly characterized in the scientific literature. Although vaginal dilators may help decrease pelvic spasm, and correct the brain body reflexive tightening in response to anticipatory anxiety, women report decreased compliance due to burdensome regimes, and concern about transitioning from one size to another. Milli is a novel, patient controlled electronically expanding dilator Milli is novel, electronically expanding dilator, designed to be patient controlled and expand in 1 mm slow controlled increments (Figure 1,2,3), and offers improved patient satisfaction and efficacy over sequential dilators.

Methods

The initial launch of the device involved offering the dilator for purchase to the general public on Milli’s website. Patients were offered a $50 rebate off the purchase price at 3-months for completing an electronic follow-up survey.
