Barbara A. Baker (barbara.baker@auburn.edu) is the executive director of Auburn University’s Women’s Leadership Institute. She is the author of four books and several articles covering topics ranging from music, literature, and women’s issues. Prior to her appointment to the Women’s Leadership Institute, she served as associate professor of African American literature at Tuskegee University where she taught for eleven years. In her role as executive director at Auburn, she frequently writes and speaks about women in American politics and culture, and as a member of the graduate faculty, she teaches in Auburn’s women studies, Africana studies, and community and civic engagement programs.
