Abstract
As it did in Percy Shelley's time and place, discussed in chapter 7, the interrelationship of eating and politics continues in the US, which is discussed in this chapter. Of special concern is how candidates' culinary choices relate to their personality and values. Principal among the politicians are two finalists in contention for the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Donald J. Trump. Both used food in efforts to express character and to manipulate food symbolism for political gain, albeit in significantly different ways.
