This second edition represents a great deal more than the title of the book would seem to indicate. It is true that it does discuss cerebrospinal fluid, under both normal and pathological conditions, but it also covers the blood-brain barrier, intracranial pressure, and certain aspects of cerebral blood flow and regulation. The author presents the history of the acquisition of knowledge concerning the anatomy and physiology of the cerebrospinal fluid system as well as the origins of our methods of analyzing this unique fluid. The book is organized in the classic fashion, beginning with the anatomy and physiology of cerebrospinal fluid. The author discusses our present understanding of the mechanisms involved in, and the location of, the elaboration of this fluid.
