Learning Objective: This course will provide the practicing neurosurgeon and the neurosurgery resident with an up-to-date overview of current management strategies for all types of benign and malignant brain and spinal tumors that occur in the pediatric population. The course will focus on practical management issues and neurosurgical approaches in particular for pediatric brain tumors through a series of didactic lectures and video demonstrations given by established pediatric neurosurgeons.

After completing this educational activity, participants should be able to identify the state-of-the-art treatment for benign and malignant brain tumors including astrocytoma, germ cell tumors, choroid plexus tumors, pineal region tumors, brainstem tumors, and posterior fossa tumors; discuss the various neurosurgical approaches to pediatric brain tumors depending on tumor location, imaging features, and patient age; and describe the different brain and spinal tumors that affect the pediatric population.
