Abstract
Tissue extracts of various plants actively bleached chlorophyll in the presence of linoleic or linolenic acid. The activity of lipoxidase (linoleate : oxygen oxidoreductase, E.C. 1.13.1.13) was necessary for this process, but our experiements provided no evidence for the participation of hydroperoxide isomerase, as has been suggested by other authors.
