Abstract
The extent to which a candidate leads his party in vote getting has generally been thought of as a demonstration of his strength. In this article, the author points to some confusions in traditional analyses of coattail influence and describes a model for identifying and analyzing vote-pulling power of presidential candidates.
Warren £. Miller is on the staff of the Survey Research Center of the University of Michigan.
