Abstract
The dynamics of the two-nucleon absorption of pion in the reaction π±+A→p+anything at intermediate energies is investigated in the correlated pair model. The process is dominated by pion and ρ-meson exchange following Δ 33 excitation. The role of the ρ-meson is shown to be crucial in reducing the contribution of pion exchange.
