Dominic Sandbrook is an extremely energetic, and a very smart and talented, writer. In a short time he has produced a great deal, and typically his last book is still being featured by booksellers when his next appears. In fact, since State of Emergency appeared in September 2010, Sandbrook published yet another substantial book, Mad As Hell: The Crisis of the 1970s and the Rise of the Populist Right in February 2011. That is also a large book, focused more narrowly on the United States. Sandbrook is also a frequent reviewer, writes interesting opinion pieces and political commentary, and appears regularly on radio and television. His productivity is impressive.
