Abstract

A three years investigation of the prevalence and distribution of onchocerciasis in Malawi has established the existence of a large focus with at least 100,000 infected people in the Cholo district.

The infection rate within the focus varied greatly from place to place with an average of 33%. All other districts in Malawi were found free from authochthanous onchocerciasis.
